EQUiD Biometric Verification Makes Equine Event Management A Whole Lot Easier!

Traditional paper records can be a hassle and are no longer adequate in terms of security. Microchipping and other identifying solutions are invasive and outdated. Providing, reviewing and approving health records on-site can create lengthy and frustrating event check-in processes at a time when horse owners are anxious to get to their stalls and begin their horse show experience.

The EQUiD solution is as simple as taking a short video of the horse’s head and within seconds it is accurately identified among all horses in the database by referencing unique physical features such as eye location, nostril shape, hair swirls, ear size, etc. With EQUiD, there remains no question about the identity of the horse upon arrival at the event. Prior to the event, health paperwork is uploaded and verified making event check-in a breeze with on simple swipe of a phone to verify the horse matches the records, then exhibitors are on their way.

How It Works

The EQUiD check-in process was easy and simple at the Rocky Mountain Horse Expo. It’s about time the industry came up with a solution like this!

Horse Owners

Add a NEW HORSE to your account.

To start your horse’s profile, enter their name, age, gender, etc.

Upload 2 Videos

One from the left side of your horse’s head, around the front, to the right side. The other from right to left. It’s best if the videos are completed at different times of day or in different lighting. You can take the video directly from the app, or upload from your camera roll.

Upload Current Health Information

Coggins Test, Health Certificate, Temperature Logs, etc.

Submit for Confirmation

This process is called “biometric enrollment”. Once confirmed, your horse is ready to be recognized. When your horse’s identity has been established, you are now able to submit its profile to participating horse events using the EQUiD app to verify identity and records upon arrival.

Select an Event to Participate in

After successfully adding your horse to the EQUiD system, you can now select “Events” to participate in.

Create a New Event.

Start by providing dates, addresses, and other event details.

Select Required Health Documents.

Choose which health documents will be required to participate in your event.

Notify Your Membership About EQUiD.

Let your members know that your event will be using EQUiD Biometric Verification for check-in and that it will be required for sign-up and entry.

Monitor Your Event Participation

Upon approval, your event will be visible on the EQUiD Events Calendar.

Event Check-In

Open the EQUiD App.

Upon arrival, open the app and select “Events”, then select the event you are participating in and scroll to the bottom. Select the horse you are checking in to display its event-specific, unique QR code.

Show the QR code to the EQUiD Check-in Representative.

They will scan your code, then scan your horse to verify that horse’s identity. After ID has been verified, repeat for each horse you have a confirmation QR code for.

Enjoy the Event.

CEO, Idea Creator & Founder

Dr. Dumm has been a large animal veterinarian since 1995 and developed a patented pasteurization system for dairies to safely feed milk and colostrum to calves. In 1999, he founded Dairy Tech, Inc. to bring this innovation to market. Since then, he has patented and trademarked numerous ideas and built a team for design, manufacturing, marketing, and sales. With an office in China and sales in nearly 40 countries, Dr. Dumm has gained global insights into agriculture. He founded Datag, Inc in 2021, which has grown into a robust AI driven company with projects throughout the animal health industry. EQUiD is the equine facial recognition effort rolled out by Datag in late 2023.

Katie has crafted her life around horses. Through college, Katie taught riding lessons and started colts, and she graduated from Colorado State University with a degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics. When the opportunity to join the Equine Network came about, she jumped headfirst into a career including client relations and advertising media strategy for content brands that horse owners know and trust including Horse&Rider, EQUUS, Practical Horseman, and more. On the EQUiD team, Katie serves as the resident equine expert, and is thrilled that being “the crazy horse girl” is paying off. When she’s not working on projects to move the equine industry forward, she’s out riding her two home-raised horses, Cosmo and Mimosa.
